Waste Free Park Initiative

Our Collaboration with 3Es Experience for Cleaner Parks

At Peaks & Safaris, we believe that exploring Kenya comes with a responsibility to help protect the places that make the experience so special.

As a safari company, we spend much of our time in Kenya’s protected areas, surrounded by incredible wildlife, landscapes and ecosystems. Keeping these spaces clean and protected is therefore an important part of the way we approach responsible travel.

This is why we are proud to collaborate with 3Es Experience through the Waste-Free Park Initiative, a practical initiative focused on reducing litter and encouraging responsible waste management in Kenya’s parks.

Working Together for Cleaner Parks
The Waste-Free Park Initiative brings together a simple idea and a practical solution: visitors should be able to enjoy our parks while also taking responsibility for the waste they generate. Through the initiative, biodegradable litter bags are provided to visitors, giving them a convenient way to collect their waste while exploring the park and dispose of it appropriately afterwards.

Our collaboration with 3Es Experience allows us to support this message while bringing greater awareness to the importance of responsible waste disposal among travellers and the wider tourism community. For us, sustainability is most meaningful when it translates into action.

Our Work in Nairobi National Park

Our collaboration has included supporting awareness and sensitisation activities in Nairobi National Park, helping visitors understand how litter can affect wildlife, habitats and the overall environment. During the campaign, more than 500 biodegradable litter bags were distributed, while over 2,000 visitors were sensitised on responsible waste disposal and the importance of keeping the park clean. The campaign demonstrated how small, practical actions can contribute to a much bigger goal when visitors, tourism operators and conservation-minded organisations work together.

Bringing Sustainability into the Safari Experience
At Peaks & Safaris, we don’t believe sustainability should be something travellers only hear about before or after their safari. It should be part of the experience itself. When our guests visit Kenya’s parks and conservancies, they are entering ecosystems that support wildlife, communities and livelihoods. We want them to experience these places fully while also understanding the role they play in protecting them. The Waste-Free Park Initiative gives travellers a simple way to participate.

Rather than simply asking visitors to avoid littering, the initiative provides them with a practical alternative: carry your waste with you until it can be disposed of responsibly. We are also extending this message through our own client experience, including the use of branded bags connected to the Waste-Free Park Initiative. Each bag provides an opportunity to remind travellers that responsible travel is something we can all contribute to.

A Collaboration That Reflects Our Values
Our work with 3Es Experience is part of our wider commitment to sustainable and responsible tourism. We believe tourism should contribute positively to the destinations we operate in. That means supporting conservation, engaging responsibly with communities and encouraging travellers to make conscious choices throughout their journeys. The Waste-Free Park Initiative gives us an opportunity to turn that commitment into something tangible.

It also reflects something we value at Peaks & Safaris: collaboration. Creating meaningful change within tourism requires different organisations and individuals to work together, share ideas and find practical solutions to the challenges facing our natural spaces.

Protecting the Places We Love to Explore
Kenya’s parks and wildlife are at the heart of what we do. Protecting them is therefore not separate from our business. It is part of our responsibility. Through our collaboration with 3Es Experience, we are proud to support the Waste-Free Park Initiative and encourage more visitors to take an active role in keeping Kenya’s natural spaces clean. Because responsible travel does not have to be complicated. It starts with something as simple as taking your waste with you.

Explore responsibly. Travel consciously. Help keep Kenya’s parks waste-free.
