From the coffee-scented highlands of Central Kenya to the rolling grasslands of the legendary Masai Mara, this immersive safari takes you through breathtaking scenery, rhino sanctuaries, flamingo-lined lakes, and predator-rich savannahs. By Day 8, Kenya will feel like your second home.

Step Into the Wild: Itinerary Overview

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), you’ll be warmly welcomed by a Peaks & Safaris representative and transferred to your hotel for check-in and relaxation.

Should you arrive early, optional visits can be arranged to some of Nairobi’s most famous attractions, including the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, the Karen Blixen Museum, or Giraffe Centre.

Day 2: Nairobi – Aberdare Foothills | Scenic Highlands & Rhino Sanctuary

Depart Nairobi at 7:00 AM and head north through the fertile farmlands of Central Kenya. Travel past rolling tea estates, pineapple fields, and coffee plantations as you approach the foothills of the Aberdare Range. Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive in Solio Conservancy, renowned for having one of the highest concentrations of black and white rhinos in Africa.

Day 3: Aberdare – Ol Pejeta Conservancy 

After breakfast, continue to Ol Pejeta Conservancy, a model of conservation success. Game drive en route to your camp. After lunch, embark on an afternoon game drive.

Ol Pejeta is home to East Africa’s largest population of black rhinos and the last two northern white rhinos on earth. The Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, operated in collaboration with the Jane Goodall Institute, provides a rare opportunity to observe rescued chimps in a natural setting.

Day 4: Ol Pejeta – Lake Elementaita 

Enjoy a scenic drive through Kenya’s countryside to Lake Elementaita, nestled on the floor of the Great Rift Valley. Check-in and lunch at your lodge, followed by an afternoon game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park, known for its rhinos, flamingos, Rothschild giraffes, and scenic lake views.

Day 5–7: Masai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, journey southwest to the iconic Masai Mara, arriving in time for lunch and rest before your first afternoon game drive.

Spend the next two days exploring one of the world’s greatest wildlife theatres. The Mara is famed for its large population of predators—lion, leopard, cheetah—and is home to the Great Wildebeest Migration from July to September.

Game drives are customized based on wildlife movements and seasonal changes, including:

  • Morning and afternoon game drives

  • Full-day game drives with picnic lunches

  • Optional hot air balloon safaris at dawn, followed by bush breakfast

  • Maasai cultural village visits to learn about local traditions and heritage

Evening sundowners and night drives may also be offered depending on your camp.

Day 8: Masai Mara – Nairobi | Farewell to the Wild

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast before departing the Mara. Drive back through the Rift Valley with a brief photo stop en route. Arrive in Nairobi in the afternoon where you’ll be transferred to JKIA for your onward flight.

  • Tips suggested: Driver guide $8-$10 per person sharing the vehicle per day

  • Drinks apart from 1-liter mineral water during the safari
