This six-day journey takes you deep into the heart of Kenya’s Rift Valley, beginning with a scenic drive through dramatic escarpments to Lake Nakuru National Park, a sanctuary for endangered rhinos and birdlife.

From there, head to the expansive plains of Maasai Mara, where wildlife roams freely and every game drive offers something new. For those seeking a different perspective, optional experiences include a hot air balloon flight over the savannah at dawn or a guided cultural visit with the Maasai community.

Comprehensive 6-Day Itinerary: Lake Nakuru, Bogoria & Maasai Mara

Day 1: Nairobi – Lake Bogoria via Lake Elementaita

Depart Nairobi at 0700hrs and head toward the Rift Valley floor, descending along panoramic escarpments with sweeping views of Mt. Longonot, Mt. Suswa, and Lake Elementaita.

Collect your picnic lunch en route, then continue to Lake Bogoria National Reserve for an afternoon game drive. Known for its hot springs and dramatic geysers, the park is also home to greater kudu, flamingos, and other unique bird species.

Day 2: Lake Nakuru National Park – Full Day Exploration

After breakfast, depart with picnic lunches for a full-day game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park. This soda lake is a stronghold for endangered rhinos, and you may spot both black and white rhino, often grazing remarkably close to safari vehicles. Keep an eye out for lions, Rothschild giraffes, and large flocks of pelicans and flamingos along the lake’s edge.

Return to camp by sunset.

Day 3: Nakuru – Maasai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, journey southwest to the famed Maasai Mara, arriving in time for lunch and some rest before heading out on your first afternoon game drive. Though the final stretch into the reserve is rugged, the reward is unparalleled access to one of Africa’s richest wildlife regions.

The Mara is home to the Big Five and is renowned for its dense predator population. Expect thrilling sightings of lion, leopard, cheetah, and more.

Day 4 & 5: Game Viewing in the Maasai Mara

Spend two full days exploring the Maasai Mara. With flexible game drive options, you can choose between a full-day safari with picnic lunch or morning and afternoon drives with lunch at the camp.

Optional (at extra cost):

  • Hot air balloon safari – Drift above the plains at sunrise for a once-in-a-lifetime view.

  • Maasai village visit – Step into a traditional manyatta and learn about Maasai customs, crafts, and daily life.

Day 6: Maasai Mara – Nairobi

After an early breakfast, depart for Nairobi. Upon arrival, you’ll be dropped off at JKIA for your onward flight or at a location of your choice within Nairobi.
